The solutions Mr Lautner found in each design to the intricacies of the plots without losing his style; not only is quite remarkable but not achieved by most modern Architects.
This was the creativity and thought process in 1960...and with pencil and draught board ...no CAD CAM ....WOW...leaves todays architecture for dead. Thank you for this spectacular tour!
The use of warm woods mixed with stonework make designs like this almost timeless in my opinion. Hard to guess if it is brand new or 60 plus years. The play on Falling Waters is done very well.
He seems to me the architect who achieves the impossible. And then you explain it, but the house still looks like it's going to fall down the hill. But they never do, and he built one right after another. They amaze me in countless ways. They look magical, which is the gift of the best & most masterful architect. This one had up-to-date decor, too, which was fun. That "atomic sunburst" chandelier was a showstopper!!!
I love the inclusion of nature and trees around the house. This house is well thought out. Things always work better when you think things through.
Not as if we didn't know this already, but Lautner was a genius. The diversity in his designs is like no other. And even though he is celebrated i still feel like he was way more important than we give him credit for. Thank you as always Jop, even for dedicated followers of Lautner's houses your videos hold a lot of information.
Very difficult calculation to support that enormous cantilever showed at minute 5:15. I guess that the opposite pillars and concrete walls are many meters into the ground to find some better soil or even better: rocks.
Spectacular house. Lautner was a genius!
Another wonderful design by Lautner. Always something unique to create the most interesting spaces, both inside and out. Thank you for the tour.
An absolute triumph of good design. I wish I had discovered Lautner many, many, years ago. Now in my twilight years I am so content just to have discovered this channel and can binge watch at leisure. I am most grateful for all the hard work you have put into making these wonderful videos.
I have to agree it is my favorite house design too. Words cant aptly describe the experience just looking at it.:face-red-heart-shape:
You are very good at interpreting the design intent by your description of Lautner's plans, and your drawings really help in understanding the layouts. I will keep watching for your videos.
I stumbled upon this house when it was listed for sale a couple of years ago, I fell in love with it though the listing's photos made it look smaller than it actually is. This presentation is excellent and makes me wish I had of bought this wonderful house!
Brilliant video š the high ceilings are much better for Southern California weather and who wouldn't love to wake up and jump into the pool?
This is a masterpiece! Thank you. If I saw your videos at a younger age, Iād be inspired to study architecture in college.
I have already discovered this amazing house ā„ I'm out of words
Absolutely my favorite of the Lautner residences.
What I enjoy most is the exploration of Lautner's creative problem solving. It's inspiring to keep in mind as a designer. I didn't know this one existed, I think I'll drive by it soon. Thanks
I love these videos. Please never stop making them : )
