It's quite interesting that a person who speaks so intricately about the workings of the human brain is not actually a neuroscience person. Thanks for such an engaging talk❤

@jungsookchung8491

As an avid reader, I love this talk. I have suffered from guilty feellings. I felt that I have spent too much time on my pleasure. This talk will help me be free from that guilt. Thank you.

I’ve always said I’ve felt like I’ve lived so many lives because of the experiences I got from reading different books.
It’s so incredible to hear that this is showing to actually be happening in my brain!
I really feel like so many people are missing out on this magical pill. It’s something you can’t get from anything other than fiction.

“One glance at a book and you're inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you” ~ Carl Sagan

@Mr.Gratitude

So amazing. Didn't know that. In the last 10 years so focused on reading just self development books, my Lord, thanks God I found this. And intuitively I always knew reading fiction helps.

@BwOfficial7

I just discovered this video. It's been 3 months since I began to read books. I've finished reading 3 books. As she said, Books help to decrease anxiety, and we can learn from others'/writers perspectives so we can feel the same.
As it has its scientific explanation, I can feel the change in what I've become presently.

@TheDrewmagoo

My Dad once said to me that you are never wasting your time when you are reading a good book

@BillyReedMusic

Wow. I feel better about reading fiction again. I had come to believe it was unproductive, except for feeding the imagination and priming the mind for writing. This is great. I'm so glad she gave this talk. I'm going to read more fiction again, and feel great about it!!!! 😄📚

@kelviannaepperson3677

Reading fiction helps me to reflect on life and related to others getting to know more about myself

@yapchunglabhutia9000

i grew up in a very strict orthodox christian family, we didn't have television or any digital objects in our home. Reading books was prohibited. My uncle once tore a copy of Harry Potter: Half blood prince because I was reading it sneaking the copy from the school library.
Now as I am growing up and learning more i realised they were actually all bound by limited thoughts due to lack of a different perspective and imagination. My life changed after I started reading more and more, even as I do now It sets me completely free of the cage that I still carry around. I am a flawed human who finds solace in Music and Books, And I know I am not the only one. Keep reading humans!

@antiquarian1773

I always have felt a feeling of guilt for not reading books, When I did read books I remember strongly the feelings I felt while reading and how good i felt after finishing reading. I realized how important reading is for the brain and wished I did it much more when growing up.

@vanndethpheou4022

I really love reading so much. I can not live without reading. Thank you❤️😊📚📚📚

@samrose3205

I used to read a lot more than I do now. But I have become distracted by my mobile phone a lot more these days and waste so much time on useless information. Time to pick up a book again

@osman2540

@nicyfrancis269

Reading puts you to the shoes of character and makes you feel the emotions akin to the character.
It helps to improve empathy to the members of community .Hence work miracles in terms of EQ of the society

@marykay8587

I'm envious of parents who read to their kids, I only recall one time in my childhood when my mom read to me, I now make sure to read to my girl every night...3 books at least and she loves it 🥰

@swamuelc6691

her final words made me cry, what a beatiful message.
