It's only a matter of time before you're doing YouTube full time—your content is amazing quality
Three weeks ago, I was completely hopeless. I moved to France, struggled with the language, and after months of rejections, it felt like nothing would ever work out. I had done hundreds of interviews and lost confidence. But out of nowhere, a recruiter called with an opportunity. Honestly, I didn’t even take it seriously at first. But I kept going — 5 interviews later, I got the job! Now, I'm part of an amazing company with a great team. If you're in a dark place right now, please remember: keep practicing, keep applying, keep building yourself. The right company will find you — and when they do, they’ll want you even more than you want them. Your value doesn’t disappear because of a few rejections. Stay strong. Your time is coming.
don't worry about the tone of the videos lately. I think you're telling a very important story, and having gone through my own (long) job search lately, it would have made me feel less alone seeing someone else having the same struggles as I have. chin up, jepi. hoping things turn around for you soon.
I was laid off in Nov 2022 and Feb 2025. The job market is tough around the world. Most of the time, it is not something that we, or even the decision makers, can control. The let go couldn't be undone. We can focus on what we can control, such as our health (both mentally and physically), creating a second, small stream of income to rebuild self-confidence, and proactively reaching out to people for coffee chats or referrals. We went through many rounds to get some jobs before; we will do it again at some point. Best of luck.
I am in a similar boat, at this point I am straight up thinking of going back to university and changing my career entirely. Being a software engineer was hard enough with the constant need to learn new tech + Leetcode interview grind + System Design + Behavioral + 6 or more interview rounds, any now because of the shit job market the salaries are gonna go down as well, so if the money isn't good why put myself through this shit, why not just do any other regular job that doesn't come with these ridiculous expectations
The honesty in this hit hard, especially the part about going through multiple interview rounds only to be ghosted. It’s exhausting, demoralizing, and, unfortunately, way too common right now. Thank you for showing what this season really feels like. As someone building a community for laid-off professionals, I can tell you your story will make others feel seen. And the fact that you’re creating while navigating all this? That’s resilience in real time. Keep going.. we need voices like yours out here❤
well done mate, great video, you should definitely keep this up, thanks for sharing your story
Please don't stop making videos. This is some incredible talent, you should've been a cinematographer haha.
Hey, don’t worry about how cheerful you sound in your videos — job hunting in tech is seriously exhausting. I got a job about a month ago (my second one), and honestly, if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that I never want to go through that whole process again. What you’re doing with your channel is something I wish I’d had the courage to do. It’s like a journal, a way to document everything, and it lets you share your experience with the rest of us. I know it can be super draining and maybe you don’t have a lot of energy left, but don’t stop creating — you clearly have so much creativity to let out. Wishing you the best of luck, and I really hope you land something soon!
I first discovered your channel when I saw your "I finally had an interview (as a software engineer)" video and the production quality absolutely blew me away. You are one of the most talented YouTubers I've seen and I genuinely think although everything really sucks now (I sympathise hard as a 4 years experience jack of all trades frontend engineer), life is giving you time to showcase your talent and commit to building your platform that you wouldn't have been able to do otherwise, the cliche 'everything happens for a reason'
I am a programmer with 20+ years of experience and I couldn't get a job for the last 3 years as a programmer. I had one job for 6 months as a system admin for very low wage and I was totally disrespected there so I left it and now I am trying to get something a bit better than I just had. I was even thinking about becoming a bus driver but AI might soon replace bus drivers. These last 3 years are by far the hardest in the last 25 years for IT job seekers.
Honestly bro the job market is brutal right now, but reality is that you need to support yourself. So just focus on getting any job which will help you pay the bills. Even if the job sucks you can continue to search for another while working at that one. Best of luck man
Hey Mate, I have been following your YouTube channel for a bit over a month now, I was laid off at the beginning of March, and had the luck of finding another role, around 3 weeks after, but has been tough to say the least. I went through 27 interviews in the span of a month, 13 technicals and 12 behavioural/system design. The system is so broken, they are interviewing for a senior role but making questions for a tech lead/solution architect. Please keep on making these videos, I think that it really takes talent for this kind of polished production. Your videos have been my way of steaming off, and I feel like I wasn't the only one, considering all the like and subscribers. I wish you to find something soon and be able to take a breath and say "It's all gone, it was just a bad dream"...
Rooting for you! My son is going through everything you said right now. It’s tough so thanks for sharing!
I remember times when software engineers were treated as kings, had huge salaries and were looking at other jobs from above. How quickly things change.
love how you highlighted your experience in the video, in case it reaches the right HR manager. Not sure if this was on purpose, but this was super smooth ( and smart )
in the same boat man! glad you're sharing the process. your cinematography is amazing.
your choice of music for each scene is incredible woww
I will leave a tip here that lend me a job offer on a job that previously declined me after a couple interviews: check if that job is still listed and contact the HR personnel quoting that you noticed they still have the job listed and say you're still available and would happily do another interview in case they have questions or just to clarify any points that might help with the decision. Contacting the HR personnel is key, because they have a lot of pressure in hiring someone and they want to close that topic asap and also you have nothing to lose! Good luck with your search, it can be really stressful and bring your motivation down, but keep your head up l, you'll get something!
