I love this guy’s philosophy, “people move here and try to change it exactly to the place they came from.” A warning of all states. If you move out of your state for better opportunities, leave your old place behind. You moved for a reason, don’t make the reason be you.
Uncle Alika!!!! He was my high school paddling coach, the girls team won 1st place at state championship and they shaved his beard. I love this guy forever!! Must protect at all cost
"If there is no Hawaiians, how can this be Hawaii?" This literally broke my heart. It inevitably made me think of my Puerto Rico, making me reflect on how alike we really are. <3
I love how everywhere Peter goes, people tell him he has been guided there for a reason
I don't know how you choose your guides, but man, you sure can pick them! I absolutely love every guide or representative of each part of America that you bring us! Every one of your videos shows both Americans and the world the beauty of Americans and the beautiful spirit of the American people regardless of their beliefs, customs, talents, or needs. Thank you, so much for the wonderful work you do!
This man has so much wisdom and love for his home.
I don't know how you vet & choose the locals to show you around for all of these videos, but you constantly find fantastic people to show & express what is happening in their neck of the woods!
I swear to God, I live for Saturday mornings. I learn more about the history of these wonderful places, hidden gems - the culture than any book I’ve ever read . Thank you Peter❤
I'm one of the Hawaiians who doesn't live on the island. My mothers side of the family is from Hanapepe, Kauai. I'd love to go back and really reconnect one day, but it's just too expensive. Thanks for visiting Hawaii and exploring past the glitz and glamour. It's a really beautiful place, but there's a lot of sad stories, difficult situations, and heart break sprinkled throughout. Not many bother to look in and really see the real Hawaii.
I love the "salad analogy": each vegetable or fruit (all plants) unique characteristics, but when blended together they become a very flavorful dish. Humans should look at each other that way: we may be unique but when working together we can contribute our special characteristics to produce something great! Another great video. Thank you Peter and Uncle Alika!
Alika and Kai's conversation on land ownership is a real issue out not only just in the South Pacific but here in New Zealand too. The Crown will never give up those lands or give back the lands. It's tragic.
I could listen to this man talk about the land he loves all day
I am already loosing my admiration to Oprah Winfrey, pretending to be a defender of the modern oppression but everything is all lies. Great to know that this guy has filipino blood on him and trying to fight and defend the Hawaiians land.
Alika has such a peaceful soul. I could watch 24 hours of this if it was filmed. Fantastic show again Peter with Fantastic people.
I grew up on Maui when there was still sugar and pineapple. Watching this is very nostalgic. Maui will always hold a special piece of my heart.
Born and raised Maui boy, yessah! My beautiful home! Stunning video of the current social and economic climate of Maui in the present day. This captures the insane dichotomy that is happening in our island society. Huge thank you to @PeterSantenello for capturing this and sharing Uncle's teachings with the world.
I want to say a big thank you to the unseen heroine behind the scene who stitches this video clips together ( Your beloved wife).
I was SO happy when he mentioned farming hemp and building homes on the island with hempcrete!
Wise man who understands nature must be cared for with respect and love. The earth is not a shopping mall. Every word he spoke was the truth. I appreciated what he said about ancestors. Thank you.
