I believe many people overestimate their need for an articulating arm. Most people probably just need a fixed pole mount that allows for adjustable height and maybe pivoting into portrait mode. Bonus: Cable management is super easy with a fixed pole mount.
Wall mounting onto stud walls I use a wide piece of wood spanning several studs. If you choose a decorative piece or paint it it looks great. Then just screw the mounts directly onto the wood or change whenever. This solution works great for large tvs, monitor arms or even radiators
This is a perfect video, covers every base. I can never remove my arm, it's got 40 lbs on it, year 5 and the base is cracking and caved into the tabletop.
So I've bought a monitor and here I am, looking for the monitor arm and I'm impressed how bad literally every option is. Requirements are simple: - monitor should stand as close to the wall as possible - there should be height adjustment without tools / screws. - height adjustment shouldn't shift monitor to the sides and shouldn't move it out of the wall ---- And there is nothing on a market. I really don't understand how is it possible and why all the arms are so bad.
I had a dual monitor arm with a C-clamp mount holding two 19" monitors on an Ikea desktop. After about a year, I noticed my monitors seemed to be persistently leaning forward. I thought the tension of the articulating arms had weakened due to the weight of the two monitors. Nope. It turned out the Ikea desktop was a hollow core design and the C-clamp had started to break through its surface.
I like the velcro idea - I usually just use some gaff tape behind the monitors to hold them in place and prevent light seepage
If you have a desk with adjustable height, the wall mount option could be a problem unless it has the ability to easily adjust up or down, and follow the desk height, it could be a PITA readjusting the position if you frequently adjust the height of your desk.
I don’t know, the more I research, the more I realize that buying monitor mounts will probably just create additional problems for me. I have two 27" monitors, and my desk is positioned against a wall. Although theoretically, I should have more flexibility in adjusting the monitors' positions, I feel like it will actually limit my options. With almost every mount, the joint protrudes beyond the desk’s edge when the monitors are moved closer to the wall, which in my case would hit the wall. With some mounts, even lowering the monitors closer to the desk forces them to move closer to me at the same time.
Why are you giving more videos to watch in the description of this is supposed to be the last one to watch?
Scoffed at the title but gave the video a watch and It's a good generalized 'food for thought' piece. It has many notes on things you should consider with the different monitor arms, use cases, positives and negatives. There are many styles someone might consider and it all depends on your usable desk space and how close it needs to be to the wall.
One of my gaming monitors has a recessed VESA mounting location, I actually had to modify the bracket to get it to fit into it right. You definitely want to check that out before getting one, good tip! Thumbs up!
Desk real estate is my number one reason for getting a monitor arm. Also, I can lift my monitors, clean my desk and then lower them back in place. I do have a dual monitor stand and I do have a big gap between my desk and the wall so that the arms can move freely, which isn’t pretty, but I use me having more space for my legs as an excuse. I may add cable management features to the desk sometime, that fit right in the gap.
Monitor Arm on desk beside your bed, Use your PC as you asume sleeping position or sit with your comfy pillow... Probably the best feeling you can have, probably healthier too never had back pain or wrist pain and the blood is distributed evenly throughout your body in and out your brain
Tbh for most of europe wall mounts are one of the best options as nearly all walls here are brick or concreat so preety much no matter where you mount it itll be stable af
Came here to say I bought a Amazon one called NB north and for the price I’m very impressed I have a stacked 1440p curved 32” monitor and a 27” I’m pretty sure up top and it work great and is pretty damn sturdy
I got a maxmount 3 monitor fixed mount and it's super stable and fits all my cables nicely inside the pillar
After seeing all the hassles that come with mounting monitors, I have decided to use a freaking projector. Or maybe I should install a 3 axis gantry system, that way I can place the monitor anywhere I want.
no wonder you said this is the last video I will need to watch. Because after watching this, I don't want to buy monitor arm anymore.
I have the LG Ergo monitor and it is the best monitor arm I have ever had! Too bad it only comes either if you purchase an ergo ultrafine monitor or buy it separately for like $150. I haven't seen a great monitor arm other than this. It is sleek and it doesn't hit the wall. There's a dual version but it costs much more.
