Small notes are good notes. But these small notes have to be made by the CANDIDATE - from the original study material which has to be in depth. My mains notes - final version (all subjects including optional) are less than 200 pages. After all you can only revise 50 pages between two mains exams. But I made them. Making these notes IS the learning process, nobody can hand it to you. I am IRS 2023 AIR 264.
Sir I would just say one thing: Winners discuss ideas, losers discuss people. And no matter what, continue what you did this time. We are with you no matter what
I vividly remember mentioning this to a friend - “bhai ye kitna zyada padha rahe hain, environment me paris deal ka article aur polluter pays ka principle number toh nahi hi puchega” and then getting a question on Article 6 which required in-depth knowledge of the provisions and not just surface level info in exam made me realise my bad judgement of things and how comprehensive your course was. So sir keep doing what you do, infact with these type of paper I agree with your post paper comment that we might need to delve even deeper next year. All we can do is work hard on our end as the paper continues to evolve.
Sir please don't change, we totally understand the depth required to answer upsc questions, if u weren't there with your one stop in depth material we had to struggle a lot here and there on multiple websites and sources to get that depth in our topics. So please don't change anything u are great at teaching and we're privileged to have a teacher like u.
Dear Doctor Shivin, I am no more an aspirant, quit the upsc cycle last year. But I had the chance to randomly come across your course on SnT for 2023 prelims. You reiterated my belief in the importance of depth of learning. The prelims 2023 and 2024 papers were a testimony to the effectiveness of your course. I have always believed that conceptual clarity>>>rote learning, and I was glad to have finally found a teacher who had the same outlook. Regardless of my own results, I would still say that you are one of the best teachers out there. You know you're doing something right when success comes to you in such a short span of time. One year of full-time teaching and so many of your students in the final list is no joke. Your job is to teach with absolute conceptual clarity; making concise notes out of which is the job of the students. Keep continuing the good work, and let no 'undercurrents' become a hurdle to your performance. Always here to support you and your genius :)
Dear Dr. Shivin, Thank you for your honest and deeply reflective message. Your vulnerability in sharing your dilemma, as well as your commitment to authentic, in-depth education, is both admirable and inspiring. The undercurrent you've spoken about "How much is too much?" is something every serious aspirant grapples with at some point. But your approach of grounding the answer in evidence from actual UPSC questions, topper experiences, and real-world outcomes provides a clarity that cuts through the noise. Yes, UPSC is not asking surface-level questions anymore. As you've rightly shown through question analysis, the exam now demands depth, conceptual clarity, and an ability to link multiple dimensions. And for that, comprehensive preparation isn’t an option - "it’s a necessity". The dilemma you face - whether to simplify or to go deep - is genuine. But your choice to teach what truly helps in getting selected, even if it appears bulky or effort-intensive, shows your integrity as a mentor. The fact that aspirants touch your feet or credit their success to your in-depth notes speaks volumes. At the same time, your openness about mental health, burnout, and the need for backup plans is a refreshing reminder that this journey must be both strategic and sustainable. In the end, while "small notes" may give the illusion of control, only structured depth creates the competence that this exam requires. And teachers like you, who refuse to compromise on that depth, are rare and invaluable. Please keep walking this difficult path - because for thousands of us, it's making the difference between direction and confusion. Warm regards, A Grateful Aspirant
As the name of your channel rightly suggests, you've given us aspirants the "clarity" that was much-needed for UPSC preparation. Without the "clarity" that you selflessly offered, I personally felt clueless and helpless. You're a gem of a person. I have learnt a lot from you. You are like a guiding light (the pole star) in the vast ocean of UPSC showing us aspirants (the stranded seafarers) the right direction to sail ashore. Never stop being the amazing person that you are. I'm immensely blessed to have a mentor like you. With your guidance, everything feels right. You're our very own antigen that helped us build immunity to fight the pathogen (if you know, you know). Can't thank you enough for everything that you've done for us. I'm forever indebted and forever grateful to you, Shivin sir. ❤
My man spoke his heart out here. Your honesty, integrity and transparency is vivid through your eyes. ❤
You're the bestest teacher, friend, guide ever..... I will always support you sir.... you're a hope
In this dark and challenging UPSC journey, you are like Krishna — guiding us with light, wisdom, and affordable courses. Your impact on aspirants like us is truly on another level. Thank you for being our guiding force.
Please for the love of Lord don't change your pattern, I've been so grateful and feel blessed to have found you as a teacher. I don't comment on YT ever but I just wanted to mention it, been following you since you were anonymous. You provide such clarity and depth that when upsc throws a roller coaster out of nowhere, we can use the in depth knowledge to sail through. It's my request to continue in a similar format. Please don't change ! Thank you for your hard work.
Your Internal Security notes helped me crack an interview. The comprehensive notes you provide is the reason, one understands a subject and then utilizes the knowledge in Mains and Interview as well. Please don't compromize with your content even for Mains 2025. We need the original content that you would provide to candidates for Mains.
Dear Shivin sir , You Are our BLUE STAR🌟 I know you might be going through a phase of doubt, but please don’t! The depth, clarity, and honesty in your teaching are exactly what set you apart. In a world full of surface-level content, your classes are a breath of fresh air, rooted in deep understanding and genuine mentorship. You’re not just a teacher—you’re a guide, a motivator, and a lighthouse for so many of us navigating this tough journey. Your passion and effort have already built a LEGACY, and we’re lucky to be learning from you. Please DONOT doubt your methods. You have helped us look beyond rot learning. What you’re teaching might feel like "too much" for somebody looking for shortcuts, but for us, it’s pure GOLD. With heartfelt gratitude, -From a debtor FOREVER INDEBTED FOR THE CHANGES YOU’VE MADE IN MY LIFE.
Dr. Shivin, keep going! One thing people need to understand is that your notes cover EVERYTHING and reduce the effort needed to search around for a topic. They're like a book - which is exactly what's needed for true conceptual understanding (without which it's nearly impossible to secure a good rank), and with all the value additions already. Now the responsibility lies with the aspirant to condense your notes in their own handwriting to create personalized short notes for revision. (I’ve personally condensed Internal Security into around 13 pages, and I’ve hardly missed anything!) What’s even better is that you already provide this kind of distilled content through your one-pagers. We couldn’t have asked for a better one-stop solution. Ignore the trolls, Shivin. They’ve never cleared the exam. Prelims can sometimes be cracked with guesswork, but there’s a reason they’ve never made it to the final list, but YOU and Mudit Sir have. Not a single selected candidate who has actually used your notes would ever say they’re too bulky or too much. Keep going, Captain!
There is no problem with the depth sir until it satisfies the level of PYQs
When I initially attended your class, I felt this too, I felt am I reading too much but I trusted you and when I appeared in exam, all your hard work paid off. Everything made sense. So keep going Shivin! You are doing everything right!❤
No sir there's no shortcut to this exam... U r doing a great job . we all want to study what you yourself would have studied. Ik u might get affected to some people saying sb kch de dia pdne.. pr itna toh cover krna pdega,it's there choice if they don't wanna work hard.
Sir,The depth and richness of your content are what make your way of teaching truly special. Even if every detail isn’t asked in the exam, the understanding we gain is priceless. Many of us genuinely appreciate your efforts and the knowledge you share. Please continue teaching the way you do,it matters to us🌻
