“When Time lets slip a little perfect hour,
take it— for it will not come again.” 3:03

Here’s a poem from the wise Omar Khayyam, Sufi astronomer-poet of Persia (c. 1048 – 1131).
To read his collected poems is to heed the lessons of a thousand-year-old conversation on how to endure, enjoy, and find beauty in the fleeting time we have.

Hope you enjoy this one. Let us know if you'd like to hear more from the Sufi Mystics.

Best,

It was Khayyam's poetry that inspired me to travel to Iran 7 years ago. I will always remember my visit to his tomb. It would be great if you could do a reading of the Fitzgerald translation !

This poem is a masterly piece… describing that how precious is ‘Time’ and we should not be wasting it neither in despair and grief and nor in leisure and lethargy… yet we should be utilising it wisely and wholeheartedly and prosperously subdue our fears, endeavour and then meticulously reach the depths of details and heights of utmost success…
Yet Knowledge and achievements are never ending
