I think you have to focus a bit more on pronunciation. Maybe you can do shadowing for the audio you are memorizing from. Make sure that the audio is recorded by a native Japanese speaker and compare the way you pronounce the Japanese alphabets with the way they pronounce them. Sorry if I said anything annoying but Japanese people or Japanese learners might not understand what you are saying and they might think you don't know a lot of Japanese.
