@nickc3496

When I was deployed, we had a A10 provide support and when it opened up it's cannon, it was so loud and horrifying, some people definitely needed some ManPads ❤️

@mattweber6505

Also more room for weapons pylons on the wings. Fun fact, same engines used on the Navy S-3 Viking.

@preppertrucker5736

The warthog is a beast, loved using that plane in ace combat for air to ground missions 👍

@gearmonkey5904

Best air to ground attack aircraft ever made.

@1stMjolnirMarkV

As someone who maintains these engines, they eat tons of dirt and debris. The engine just don’t care😂

@kylearanez1082

its located in the rear because of the gun being so heavy so that it balance and the engines is tilted slightly upwards so that it can compensate from the recoil of the gun(srry im not very good at english)

@WildmanTrading

I think it also prevents gas from the gun causing a compressor stall(when the engine doesn't receive enough air and stops working, usually from high AOA)

@michaelkevinmirasol8256

It's the same principle also why many private business jets have the engines at the rear fuselage instead of under the wings.

@bobhsohi704

As an infantryman myself this plane would be a godsend

@Thevoicemasta

The engines being there also means you can still fly with a missing wing!

@mikeeihusen5194

Because it's a badass piece of equipment and can do whatever it wants.

@ironnoodle7992

When I was stationed at England AFB, 23rd TAC Flying Tigers and we transitioned to A10s, we were told that the main purpose of the engine position was so it could land and take off from locations that were undesirable to jets with underwing engines. In other words an A10 can take off and land in an open field. Being the person responsible for creating forward supply dumps this meant a lot to me.

@prabhuk1369

Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. Movement. Good.

@garygrant5490

That's my aircraft Simply the best

@BarbaraRomberger

My residence in PA is approximately a 40 minute drive from one of the states national guard bases!!!
A very large portion of the eara of the base is part of the Appalachian mountains
A-10's have used some of this mountain eara for training!!!
Very good friend owned 10 acars of Woodlands in those mountains also. Deer hunting on friends land and I hear the unique sound of the A-10's engines!! Increasing in volume as they got closer!!
Then suddenly absolute silence for about 15 seconds and then a sound at such a hi decibel level my hole body was be affected in a manner that is very difficult for me to explain!!! Was frightened by this!!! Wasn't even 2-3 seconds experience!!
I instantly new what I had just experienced!!
That weapon is so F'N awesome!!!

@Wildlifesupernannyfan

These fighter jets are beautiful!

@mirthenary

If you're ingesting dirt and debris, you're flying too low ...or taking off or landing

@lisbon1492

Yep, Nod soldiers shit their pants when they saw this beast!

@curtelmore8172

These are one of the coolest combat aircraft planes ever! I remember from my days in Germany with the 3rd Armored Division, we saw them alot providing battlefield support for the tankers. They have an extremely high rate of maneuverability, accuracy, and highly capable of taking out enemy tanks or other enemy combat, or support vehicles.
Their nickname is Tank Killer!

@rifleslide2881

It’s also allows for minimal damage when performing belly landings in case of gear failure that’s why the bottom parts of the wheel stick out
