I graduated with a bachelors in May from a US university, and am unemployed because graduate school (PhD) didn't work out for me, so I decided to do a course in data analytics and have learned a lot, but recently I wanted to do data science, because I like statistics a lot and am comfortable with coding, but the masters programs in the US are too expensive and many of them require an undergraduate CS or math background to even be considered, and I can't go back in time to change my major or the course I took. the ones that accept any major and background even require prerequisite math courses taken in college. I have always been good at math, but never took Calculus or linear algebra in undergrad because I didn't need it to graduate, and only took a few statistics courses. Because of this, It seems my only option is self taught, but as you mentioned self taught is less structured, and getting your foot in the door at companies is a nightmare especially in Data Science in this economy where people are being laid off and they want the highest qualified workers. I think I am now just going to switch paths and go in to data engineering, since they don't require any masters degree for Data Engineering, and I have already been self learning data engineering concepts self taught the last few months. Also, data analysis is sadly not a very high paying field, and although I'm not a person who cares too much for money, I do feel there is a minimum salary range I need to get by in this US economy where rent prices and cost of living are super high. But sidenote,I love your channel, and you deserve more subscribers. Will keep watching even though data science seems impossible for me to break in to as of now. I think degrees are the best bet overall for something like data science, and if you are self taught you need good networking to get your foot in the door.
Thank you Nash for the video!!!(btw new subscriber and already love your content)
Great analysis!
1st off I love your Content. Another good idea is to go the self taught route and start off in entry level positions like application support Or junior sql developer.
How old are you by any chance??
degree includes online bootcamp ?
How is the work life balance of the job
