You know, when the historian of fascism wants to leave the country, we are in big trouble

@leannevandekew1996

When asked how Fascism starts, Bertrand Russell once said: "First, they fascinate the fools. Then, they muzzle the intelligent."

@Nicolecarolyn

I’m retired at 48, went from Grace to Grace. This video here reminds me of my transformation from a nobody to good home, honest wife and $65,000 biweekly and a good daughter full of love ❤️ .

@dave-cripps

Watching from the UK, this is terrifying. The most powerful military in the world with fascists in charge does not bode well.

@emilymatienzo5922

Imagine having a history so bad that you try to prevent others from learning about it.

@eringionet5783

I work at a top Canadian research university, and we routinely welcome scholars from all over the world. Prof. Stanley and other global thought leaders will find a strong and free academic home here. 🇨🇦

@leannevandekew1996

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a Bible"
Trump has appeared in public doing both.

@jdotsalter910

Me and my family are black and feel what Prof. Stanley feels. I have a masters in political science and this is textbook descent into fascism. And Jim Crow was only a few decades ago, my dad who grew up not having the same rights as whites in the south is still alive. The signs of a return to that era are starting to emerge. My wife has has UK citizenship which is our escape plan, but Canada may be the move if we can get in with our critical skills.

@CanadianBeacon

As a Canadian I am very happy that academics like Jason Stanley are leaving the U.S. for Canada. 🇨🇦

@Sophiedorian0535

Belgian here. The professor is more than welcome to my place. Vive la Liberté.

@MD-bu3xc

I would totally leave the US after being born here 72 years ago. I do not want to live under a fascist regime. I can already feel the chilling effects on everyone.

@operative2136

As a Canadian, it is my sincere hope that welcoming someone like Professor Stanley to our country, will help us in the long run by helping to educate students about the warning signs and pitfalls of potential descent into fascism. We need to be mindful that Canada is not immune to the threat of fascism. We must learn from the mistakes being made by our neighbor to the south, and hopefully avoid them.

@Nah_Comment

Europe, Canada, Latin America, Asia, etc. are about to get a massive wave of talent. No qualified and educated person who has a democratic outlook wants to live in this madness.

@craven5328

Torontonian here - I've been wondering when the academics might begin to migrate north. It's disturbing that it has to be done, but we will welcome Professors Stanley, Snyder, and Shore whole heartedly!

@zzzsydneyhom1379

I left the USA over 50 years ago and can confidently advise Dr. Stanley, that once he lives for a time in a civilised country he is unlikely to ever wish to return to the USA.

@marthareis5873

What has happened here is tragic. I remember Masha Gessen warning in 2016 that fascism is a slippery slope. And slide we did.

@EMarie85

Calling anything DEI, calling anything welfare, calling anything pro-hamas, calling anything terrorism ... McCarthy, is that you?

@kimhicks1571

Excellent interview 👏
If Jason Stanley moves to Canada, we will be very fortunate to have him.
Elbows up Canada 🇨🇦

@Ginandcats

My daughter graduated from a top university with a STEM degree and is applying to engineering grad programs in Europe. She will never come back. 😢

@WayneLeng

Timothy Snyder, a historian and author of many books, on fascism and freedom is another oneof America's important citizens. He must be protected at all costs.
