As a cashier after money is taken and chamge is given the transaction is finished. So realistically this does not work because the last 10 is already in ownership of the store, meaning you cannot use it for another transaction

Explanation Basically the first item was worth £9 so when she gave a £10 note she got £1 change so now that £10 is worth £9. When she gave the £1 that now makes the total £10 but the cashier just added £10+£1 Hope this helps ❤

I explained it to myself, when they give you change it cancels out the previous extra. But when you give that back it cancels out the canceled out extra change, making the $10 not worth $9. But in this case you still would need a extra dollar, in total, you paid $10 not $11

Ok.. explanation time!! So when she gave 10 $ the cashier gave her the 1 $. So now the change is 1 $ and the cashier has 9 $. Here is when the 2 $ comes in. {Remember the 10 has now become a 9} So then we add the 2 and 1 of the 2’s is the 1 $. She said that the 10 had an extra 1 $ left. But she is wrong because she had already gave in that 1 $. So it goes like this is a math equation. 10-1=9, 9+2=11, 2-1=1 (sum=1). Overall she is 1 $ short!
