Your experience and proactive prepping is awesome and all inspiring!
That's a nice system. I live in an apartment in a city and I have a small backup system with extra storage batteries. However, a few weeks ago we had a large area power failure and when I looked out my window not one single person in my entire area had backup power it made me realize that I could be a target as the only person in my area with electricity if things go wrong.
Excellent. Happy for you Jonathan and Kylene. Enjoy. Happy trails!
Finally! Something to replace the Freeze Dryer as "Most Expensive Prepper Item EVER!" 😆
Congratulations on your wonderful new solar power system!
It’s so nice y’all are able to prepare like this. I hope you never have to need it but good if you do.
So great inspiration I am so happy for you 🤩
Nobody can see it, but you just showed the ENTIRE WORLD that you have it! This is why I don't do YouTube videos.
Whoa! Nice setup!! 😊👍❤️
We all have our OCD moments. Kylene's is paint, mine are light switches. LOL!!!
i hope this is a safe system? watching videos of home solar going boom too
Never heard of Grid Down Redoubt. The word redoubt is in hundreds of classic literature novels.
Prices on each step would be awesome, thanks.
Thinking about getting one term generators for my trailers or some solar panel generators
I'm so happy for you guys. You're gonna love it. Keep sharing operational aspects about new routines as you live with the new system. There is no way that my HOA will approve solar panels. I wish they would invent solar panels that don't look like solar panels. Until then, I am more interested in the storage side. I figure having enough stored power for 2 to 3 days would meet the majority of my needs. What kind of batteries are those? I assume that only the batteries would not require permit as long as we have a switch to prevent back charging city lines. Will the batteries last as long as a Tesla? How did this system affect your home owners insurance? How far down can you dis-charge them? Do they put off heat? Does your monitoring system show you the status of batteries? Is there any on-going maintenance to the batteries? Maybe Jonathan can hook up a DC water pump and misters to keep the solar panels cool and windshield wipers to keep them clean!! Thank you for sharing. That was a lot of work to do all the editing on this video
Who in the world can afford it, not me.
Did you get replacement diodes for your solar panels? Lighting can blow your fuse, if you have one for your solar string and blow your diodes. You might be able to stop the damage at the fuse level and not blow your emp protection. Much cheaper fix. I have had an unplugged charger and a battery power CO detector got fried. A lot of other stuff and we have under ground power. With the magnetic field getting weaker we are going to have things more often.
I have solar panels with net metering. No storage system. I had the same issue with the power company (AEP) coming out to install the net-meter. It took them forever. And other people had the same issue and people are still having this same issue. In my opinion the state’s Public Service Commissions need to set a time frame for when the power companies MUST install the net-meter. They drag their feet too much and they do it on purpose. Not enough penalties on motivating them.
What is your opinion of Sand Batteries??
