U.S.S LOUISVILLE CA 28 - HEAVY CRUISER - (13) BATTLESTARS: On Jan 5, 1945 the kamikaze hit turret 2 main battery 8 inch 55 caliber and Jan 6, 1945 the kamikaze hit the Starboard side of the Signal Bridge area right side of ship. My dad Enrico Trotta who passed in 2017 at age 92 served on USS Louisville from 1943-46 and witnessed 52 sailors including Rear Admiral Theodore Chandler buried at sea due to 3 kamikaze hits in pacific War. The June 5, 1945 kamikaze hit the port side at Stans stack and was originally identified as friendly. My dad and 3 other 20 mm mounts fired to set the plane a fire before hitting the louisville. My dad fired 58 rounds from a dual 20 mm mount. GOD BLESS OUR SERVICE MEN AND SERVICE WOMEN - KIA - MEMORIAL DAY!
