I spent so many years as a child imagining how they did this! Itโs good to finally know how itโs really done
30 year marine pile driver and diver, I have been on many of these jobs .The last coffer dam sheet pile I cut was on the seven mile bridge in the florida keys. There were two in Moser channel . I cut the sheet pile underwater at the mud line. If i remember correctly it took me two days on each cofferdan. The bridge was built with cassions , only the main high span had cofferdams. I was a independent diver working for Miser marine.
who else watches these videos not because you do this for work or because you need to know it but because you are actually interested in it
I was about to go to bed but suddenly had a question on how they do underwater construction. Thanks for this, now I can sleep.
Human ingenuity has never failed to amaze me, I mean everything from thinking of a solution to building the pile driver.
This is the best engineering channel by far. Straight to the point, very educational, clear explanations and graphics. Well done my friend
This is so complex. Thank you to the civil engineers who do this work.
What an engineering marvel that is! Every country needs such experts.
Am I an engineer or engineering student? No. Do I ever plan on working in construction or the building of a bridge? No. Did I watch the whole video? Yes I did. I So fascinating to me. ๐๐
Can you go into more depth on how the coffer dam is removed? How can they be cut at that level safely? Wouldn't water rush in and create a hazard?
Just amazing. Human ingenuity is endless. How did anyone come up with this idea. Just amazing.
It simply amazes me how engineers come up with all of these techniques. Simply remarkable.
I swear if all people existed till now had iq same as me , we all would still be in the stone age.
Iโm a civil engineer student and it makes me proud that I understood and are familiar with the terms and steps they describe here
Loved the illustrations. It helped us our better understanding on how bridges were built in the middle of the oceans.
its crazy how much effort goes into building a single pier. Lovely explanation and summary of the whole process. Ive always wondered how this is done when looking at a bridge
I am not an engineering student, and this was still the most interesting video I have seen today despite the lack of background knowledge of this subject. I have always wondered how bridges were made. I have seen bridge construction material several times in my life and only today I have understood what that stuff was and how it is used, the assimilation if the bridge, how to tell a good construction from cheap construction and so much more. I have more respect for construction workers, engineers and everyone involved in the process. Thank you so much for this masterpiece.
Thank you Iโm in construction 30 yrs and like very much to watch these ๐
Wow and this is what Baltimore is going to need to do to rebuild it's bridge. Very insightful!
