My sister and I used to bring sardine & mustard sandwiches to school on occasion. Needless to say the other kids always said, “ew”! My dad taught us to like a variety of healthy foods.

@zogzog1063

A good way to eat sardines is as follows: Put the sardines in a bowl, squeeze in the juice of a lemon, add half an onion - finely chopped. Mash with a fork and consume.

@Oggiwara1

I have been eating King Oscar sardines since childhood. I have been working a few years at one of their many factories when they made them here in Norway. So did my mom a few year and my grandmother for most of her adult life, and they both got 95 and 97 years old before they passed away naturally. It is one of the cleanest fish you can eat today. No preservatives at all. Just pure wild caugth fish and virgin olive oil cooked in the tin can. If you have problems getting used to eating the Sardines(which is Atlantic Brisling named Sardines in the purpose of marketing), keep them in the fridge and eat them cold at once you take them out of the fridge. That reduce the smell some people don't like.

I give Dr.Boz credit for getting me to finally try sardines. I hate that I have spent my entire life listening to other people say how gross they are. I love them and mackerel. I think they are milder in taste to tuna and I actually like them better than tuna. Thank you so much Dr. Boz!

Dear Dr, ❤

As someone with Mediterranean Greek roots, I absolutely love how Greek Feta and Cucumber 🥒 Olivs 🫒 go together! My uncle in Greece worked as an Engine Engineer on a ship, and he always shared how they had Sardines for hydration to help them drink more water from the heat generated in a confined space💧. It’s such a great reminder of those sunny days!

Much respect from Australia 🇦🇺

@Rose-jr4tx

Who else just randomly found Dr. Boz videos one day and have been watching ever since?! 🤷

@jonorway65

Almost incredible! I have barely heard about Dr Boz’s sardine fast and so was just now deciding to write my experience in the comments, when this video came up. See, I’m an American, who’s lived with my Norwegian wife, here in Norway for 40 years (!) and I think I’m very accurate when I say that I have eaten about 3-4 King Oscar sardines in extra virgin olive oil for an average of, say, 27 days a month all these years! I gave up other brands very quickly. Then here’s my “secret” for how I’ve loved them so much: I have a plastic storage box with cut up white onions handy and eat a few of these onion bits alongside the sardines and I simply love the flavor. (Take it from an “expert”!)

@davidmusicmaker

I love them! I eat either sardines, mackerel, or salmon about four times a week. Very satiating, especially with some steamed or boiled leafy greens on the side. A small serving of berries and a chunk of dark chocolate for dessert, and I'm good to go.

@deanawatson2555

I like mushing them with avocado and red wine vinegar. Yum

@Anunnasboy

7 years now Dr. B!
You saved my life!
I like the “Tiny Tots”

After 4 months of tracking my blood glucose with a Stello GCM I had plateaued with both reducing my BG and with weight loss. While my clothes were fitting better nothing else budged. And hitting the Dr. Boz ratio? Forget it. So I got fed up and decided to "go drastic" and do a three day sardine "fast". The results were very good. My BG came down, I lost 5 pounds, and I felt great. All I had were sardines with a little hot sauce, black coffee and tea, and water. What I noticed as well was some knee pain I'd been dealing with went away. I wouldn't want to do this every week, but I think I will do this once a month as a reset. I got my sardines at Costco, skinless and boneless in olive oil.

@CitEnthusiast

Had my daughter buy sardines when I started really getting into your advice. They sat there for a month before I decided it was time. not nearly as bad as I'd made it in my mind. Yes, a strong odor, don't take these to the office! LOL But they are super food, amazing how they work at reducing appetite while getting the ketones started. Thanks for this advice Dr. Boz!

@nemo227

Annette, you're my kind of doctor. Live long and healthy and prosper.

@nicolerichards28

I eat them with Sauerkraut!! Its incredible how such a little thing can make you feel filled.

@sararatliff7707

I started eating sardines from looking into keto, and I adore them. I like the cheap ones in water, and then I add them to curry sauce! Toss in some boiled veggies and pour the whole thing over rice! I also love how soft they are. I'm healing from full-mouth dental extractions (getting implants), and mashed sardines have saved my life.

@keithharrison1453

Two things I find go well with Sardines, because many things don't, is Sea Salt and Apple Cider Vinegar. My routine is to add a couple of good pinches of Sea Salt, consume around half the tin and most of the salt, then add a lot of Apple Cider Vinegar, which finishes it off nicely. Almost two dishes in one in effect, and I look forward to it. I'm not a particular fan of anything that tastes too fish, but this works well and removes even the slightest hint of fish.

@kuleilani

Smash the sardines, mix with little butter and pepper than spread on your bread so yummy sandwich (if you like onions you can add to your taste, even better). There's something abt sardines, butter n pepper. That's my normal childhood lunch for school. In my country meat is expensive and can of sardines is more affordable so it was so common growing up and eating sardines sandwiches for lunch or picnic. What My mom made to go with sardines sandwich was fresh lemon 🍋 drink, those two goes well together and lemon remove the smell of sardines from my mouth after a meal . Mothers know better!

@theghettocookingshow

I had to come back to thank you. I decided to give sardines a try because my glucose numbers have been through the roof lately. Wednesday morning my number was 180. 😭 Thursday morning it dropped down to 142 and I ate 3 cans of sardines (breakfast, lunch and dinner). This morning (Friday) my glucose was 88 🥳🥳 I'm in total shock at how fast that worked and only after one day of eating!!!! This is really a game changer for me and the bonus is that I really like the way that they taste. I really can't thank you enough Dr. Boz.

@arivirtanen3122

Here in Finland, far away, we have a local fish called "muikku" in Finnish.
Sardines are probably okay, but it's worth looking into local opportunities to eat good quality fish.

@laueriksen6169

In France, I love the "Connetable sardines fraîcheur extra" in extra virgin olive oil. Yes, because we french people watch you too Dr Boz ! ❤
