Dark background is very nice. This channel is invaluable.
Personally, I much prefer the dark color scheme, you also nailed it, it looks pretty nice and pleasant on the eyes. it also in a way sets a general theme for your channel since the grand majority of other math channels use bright color schemes.
The brighter the screen is the less i want to look intently at it; darkness all the way, or just simple minimalist black, and if you want to make distinctions between different sets of videos then you can use different dark colors. The background brightness should generally always be darker than the foreground in my opinion. Thanks for the great content!
Two things about color choices: 1. A few percent of the viewing audience will have some form of color blindness. The most common make it difficult to distinguish between red, orange, yellow, and green and brown. But there are at least twenty different kinds, including blue, purple, and magenta, and only seeing luminance with no chrominance at all. There web sites with tools to help test and select color combinations which can be distinguished by people who are colorblind. (The difference in luminance is usually the most important factor.) 2. Some video displays have a very bright "black level", and poor dynamic range in brightness, especially video projectors. What this means is that a "black" background will appear "medium gray"... but... any foreground text which is "medium gray" will also appear "medium gray" on the "medium gray" background, and thus become invisible. I've given a conference presentation in front of a live audience, with slides in white and gray text on a black background... which appear perfectly legible on my laptop, but the gray text was invisible on the screen projected for the audience. (Only the white foreground text was legible; The gray text was not.) So... high contrasts in luminance are visible under the widest possible viewing conditions... but so are highway traffic signs. (Also, some people don't pay enough attention to colors to distinguish between green and blue. They can see the difference, but consider green and blue to just be shades of the same color. I can distinguish thousands of colors and tell you their W3C names or Pantone numbers. I can tell the difference between lemon yellow and canary yellow and cadmium yellow. Cobalt blue, azo blue, and ultramarine are completely different colors for me.)
Definitely dark! Great news, by the way, thank you for the update. Can't wait for the group theory series :-)
The background doesnt matter as long as the contrast is there in my case at least, thank you for the great content!
your passion and seriousness on your videos are fasinating and admirable. 💪💪💪💪
Definitely prefer a light colour scheme. In contrast (no pun) to many others, I find it easier on the eyes. Also esthetically more satisfying. And it distinguish your channel from most other animated maths channels.
I like your idea of a light theme for main videos and dark for channel updates.
Dark background please.
I like the lighter scheme for main videos, it makes your videos stand out from others'
darker as much as possible.
Hi! First time here. YouTube just recommended this video, because I watch other math videos. I prefer the dark theme, just like the other comments. I never heard about Monoids, can't wait to learn the content of your next 6 videos!
Group theory is my currently favorite branch of math, I'm excited to see it! I don't have a preference for the color scheme. I would prefer if your choice is one that makes you confident that your videos are consistent.
A dark blue color would be nice
Looking forward to the group theory videos! For the colour scheme, I definitely prefer a dark background. I also find that its nicer on the eyes, and generally I am more easily able to focus on the important content (text, diagrams, etc.) than with a light background. The channel update/main video distinction is a good idea though, so perhaps the thumbnails can still follow a dark/light distinction or have some other indicator for the video type?
The taupe background works well.
A dark background and color scheme would indeed be really nice to have. But personally, I don't mind sacrificing a little bit of my sight in exchange for being provided with the quality content you produce.
These are more words of encouragement. I am encouraging you. Please continue and feel encouraged. And I'm happy to contribute on Patreon. In the flow of videos I use when winding down or starting my day I am always thrilled to see a new video on your channel. And I think you've made great visual design decisions. Take care. And thanks.
