Yeah that’s kind of the sad reality for most homeowners. You are gonna be billed for everything and, very annoyingly, separately. Shoot this reminded of a time when I was over at a friend’s house back in middle school. And at some point he was messing with his father about how this was his house. The father simply chuckled and said “Say no more,” walked to the kitchen and back, and handed my friend a fat stack of papers and said, “Here’s the mortgage, the light bill, the gas bill, water bill, and insurance bills.” My friend and I were just baffled at the amount of paper and bills. The father shrugged his shoulder and walked way with “You’re the man of the house. That mean you pay for all the bills.” From that point, my friend and I did not take our respective parents for granted.

My parents were a lot like Chloe's. Pressure to perform academically and having me do extracurriculars but when it came to teaching me the basics of living on my own and real world adult issues? A whole lotta nothing. I had to figure out so much on my own.

When I enlisted, I was five to eight years older than the majority of my peers. They called me uncle, if they were being nice. However, I wound up having to teach them things that no one had ever taught them. How to drive. How to clean up after themselves. How to do laundry. How to schedule appointments that the military wasn't going to do for them. And how to get and maintain an apartment, including paying bills on time. Got old (like me) real quick.
