@sportiekc2944

I’m so glad you showed how much this cost to do. It’s cute but way over my budget.

@StuGo1013

I have a Kallax unit and I think I will try this. However, I think I will use pole wrap or a bamboo area rug to design the doors and save some money! Nice job!

@katiecasey5709

Thanks for trying this so we didn't have to. 😊

@angietoscano103

It was definitely worth it!. You saved it from the landfill, you have a unique piece, you met a need for your family, and you generated income from your YouTube channel not to mentioned inspired me and others to do the same. Definitely worth it!

@Sooz1234

SO helpful to have your honest evaluation of the cost/effort involved. I suspect you could find a cheaper piece, but a) you already had the cubby, b) the finished product is very swanky, and c) you know it is going to hold up. Congrats.

@BuildAQuilt

I have Kallax pieces that are over 20 years old. They hold up super well. My entire studio has wall to wall Kallax units with the IKEA pegboard doors on some spaces, and I have two in the family room. The doors that you show in your video are a newer version and I actually like them a little better as they can be used or removed without visible marks. The hack that you're showing is a fantastic idea and I'll keep it in my notes for a future use. Peace and joy... Diana

Hi Christina,
I follow you and Kristen McGowan so I was really anxious to see how yours turned out too. I know it was a labor of love and quite an expense, but your cabinet turned out absolutely beautiful and like you said you have one of a kind piece. I do think if you purchased something that size it would cost you quite a bit more. So although it was a lot of work, very time-consuming and a little costly in the end, I think you did OK. It really does look beautiful. Great job.! 🤩👌🏼👍🏼

@AngieBelleville-o2z

WOW!!!! You think that you spent a lot BUT look it up. You would pay so much for that piece! Love it.

@kateyoungblood6598

On my gigantic TV in my den this piece looks so beautiful and high class and charming for your front entry and I just wanted to congratulate you. I know some of the things were surprising but you mentioned that you got a custom piece and that is so true. Just the way you wanted it. I'm definitely one of your fans and followers.

@KarenAltenhof

You did such a nice patient job. The piece is so attractive. Proud of you!❤

@squibitbessy7382

“Y’all need to stop knocking idea furniture” couldn’t agree more, I’ve always found ikea to be excellent quality and always the easiest to build with really good fixings ect.

@br-e6190

That was a lot of work and you did a great job. I think the doors sit out from the front too much and the top of the doors seem unfinished. I would have continued the trim above, below and on the side of the doors as well.

@kerrihanson8765

I made this a few years ago using Kristin’s tutorial and am in love with this piece of furniture. It is so nice to open the doors and have two areas of storage behind each one to keep things organized. It was a labor of love, but helped me gain a piece of fluted furniture I couldn’t afford otherwise!

@tristavalentour7575

It turned out really nice! The price is high but like you said…it’s custom, in a color you chose, & the piece isn’t destined for the landfill! Those are all good things! Hopefully you have paint leftover for another project. 😉🦋

@gyslenecuif7017

Your job is just perfect.

@gretchen_needs_a_dog

I love the doors of double height. But I like that you shared the actual cost. Also, I too have often been amazed at how robust many IKEA pieces are - they last a rally long time!!

@luvsiberians8006

I LOVE it! It's beautiful, and I commend you for seeing it through. It is a bit spendy, tho. LOL

@vintagelady1

While I'd never do this myself, even if this were my style, I think it looks fabulous! Having the kids dump stuff on top is a teachable moment, earn dessert for putting stuff in a cubby, that sort of thing.

@uraniamelendez1351

Hi! Glad to see your video.
I think for the size of this cabinet you can’t find anything below $300. You saved money. Of course your labor is not included but is for your home. Congratulations! It came out great 🎉

@kerrybrazeau2456

Love it I would get a piece of glass made for the top of it 😊
