I knew it. With my first controller I would temporarily fix my stick drift by blowing into the controller through the right analog stick hole. I'm gonna take it apart and clean it now.
Seeing the faceplate off was like seeing Darth Vader without his helmet.
I was always a believer of dust causing stick drift and this just proved my theory because my controller analog doesn't do it no more. Thank you bro
Thanks! This actually made my stick drift go away👍thanks again
Man I got so excited! And then I realized I have no idea what a T-8 screwdriver is and that I definitely don't have one sigh
Clear and precise video so thumbs up. Didn't solve the upward drifting of the left analog stick though... Not sure if it's a hardware or a software problem at this point. Saying that the side plates come off 'a little bit difficult' is a bit of an understatement, I had to pull like I was going to destroy it ;) TIP: With the front plate and the rubber ends of the analog sticks removed, the sticks will then 'hold' their position when pushed to their limits. This is normal. (It's the diameter of the holes in the front plate that prevent the sticks from going too far and spring back to their neutral positions) TIP: don't completely remove the sticker, just pull it off half way so you can reach the screw and it'll easily adhere back in place afterwards.
Straight to the point and fixed my controller. Thanks man :) EDIT: unfortunately after some time its happening again
This actually worked Now I am regretting not cleaning my other stick 🙂 Because this one feels better than the other one
Started happening to my controller the other day. This video really helped me out thank you so much. Don't have any dust cleaner so I just blew into it a lot and that mostly solved it, I imagine if I went and got some it might be fully gone. Thank you again!
I fixed two controllers with this video! Thank you!
So the little air can method didn't work, but compressed air from my 100 psi garage compressor and the little air duster attachment did. :) Thumbs up for the tutorial, Chad. 👍
I put the vacuum over the analog sticks and all the buttons and it worked for me.
This worked for me, my stick drift wasn't that bad but it was noticeable and it was getting annoying. when I opened it I realized that there was some debris stuck on the mechanism, so I cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol, had a nonstatic brush and cleaned it well. Used some canned air too. I calibrated the controller and it's been working fine so far.
Gonna try it later. Have you gotten a cuticle treatment since this video?
Thanks, spilled Powerade that got into my Y and B buttons while I was drunk and woke up to them feeling weird until I realized why. This worked perfectly and took 10min. I used one cotton swab end for each button and repeated the process a few times. Fortunately I didn't spill it in a spot to fry the motherboard or gum up either of the sticks... Keep telling myself I gotta start setting my drinks on the floor.
For anyone wondering, I did this and it seems to work, not sure if it’s just temporary, but the part where you press the stick and make circles fixed stick drift for me.
wtf is wrong with microsoft, phillips from OG to xbox one, and i never had to take controllers apart.. all of a sudden on next gen controllers are highly susceptible to this shit and its T8 now? Has to be on purpose.
Great video! Didn’t work, lol. The controllers are just crap.
Genius! Thanks a lot, man. Actually easier than I thought
