Life expectation # 1: no one is going to jail for you. They will disclose everything if it means they will stay out of jail or avoid a fine.
In Russia when FSB requested data from Telegram - they eventually granted those requests.
An ideological non-profit can cooperate with a government that it deems to be working in the public good or the common interest. Being non-profit in no way means that an entity will act in your best interest.
Man I really love your content, extremely helpful and valuable but take care with the Wikipedia statement, they definitely have an agenda, framing activists as right wingers, conspiracy theorists and so on. Besides that love your take on things! I'm a fan
Hmmm....Signal requires your phone number for registration...thats not private...
Whatsapp backups aren't encrypted by default. You need manually enable and set recovery password to unencrypt the data. Most users wouldn't do what.
Now do keyboards. It doesn't matter how secure your messenger app is, if your keyboard is just a fancy keylogger
it seems to me that the most private messenger at the moment is the decentralized ecosystem Utopia
Telegram in Germany is under strict observation by the BND.
Have you tried Session? Any idea how secure the Session app is?
This list is only about official requests to those messenger providers and what data the FBI can obtain. But you have to consider the case that an agency or law enforcement get‘s (temporarily) physical access to your mobile phone. They attach your phone to some hardware, dump the memory and let some forensic tool do the analysis. Which messenger will stand this attack with locally encrypted messages, that can‘t be decrypted by such a forensic tool!?
Any reason you didn’t mention Apple’s Advanced Data Protection, where you maintain the encryption keys?
any New update About graphene OS?
Can we get an update video on this.... Especially Telegram.. AS things possibly change since Telegram CEO's arrest? Thanks 🌊
I love signal private messenger
Session App?
New subscriber. Love your content
Excellent advice,sensible advice nice video👍
From the stance you take in your videos, I’m inclined to think you don’t use SMS at all. One reason I’ve liked Signal is how it has allowed me to remain connected to the skads of friends and family who depend on SMS (or couldn’t care less about the difference between it and more encrypted ways of messaging). Have you weighed in on Signal’s decision to go strictly e2ee? Any thoughts on this hot topic for those of us with dozens of friends and family still bound to SMS?
