Imagine living in a world where 80%+ of jobs are either ghost jobs or scams and the other 20% have bosses that have ATS and just normally auto reject all but the mythical unicorns, the same people who then cry how "nobody wants to work" What a time to be alive
Posting ghost jobs should be illegal. Plain and simple. It's unethically stealing information from the candidate pool and people's valuable time.
the first red flag i saw with the job market was when i saw an opening for a local panda express when i was 16, that panda express closed when i was 13.
I've been dealing with this for over 10 years. I explicitly remember being at a job fair at my local unemployment office and I mentioned "it seems like these companies are having job listings without any intention of hiring anyone" and one lady said "you're delusional" well I bet she feels stupid now lmao.
The recruiters and HR departments of companies need to be investigated for these disgusting practices.
Literally, this. I've applied for a night shift grocery stocker. NIGHTSHIFT, low paying, weekends, etc, and no phone call, nor any rejection email. For multiple locations.
I'm old enough to have handed out resumes in person. Would drive around town, hand out about 5-10 resumes, and had a job offer within a week. I thought the magic of applying online would make job hunting easier, but somehow it ended up much, much harder.
There's an extraordinarily disgusting practice of some jobs asking candidates to build and submit a "demo", only to still ghost them...while they get a free demo project like a front-end website component.
Doing this should result in the judicial dissolution of your company
It’s crazy how much harder it is to get a job online now, no matter how qualified you are. These days, sending in resumes feels pointless. Half the jobs are either ghost listings or scams, and the rest are screened by AI, not even a real person. A resume can only say so much—no one sees your work ethic, attitude, or how you carry yourself unless they meet you in person. More than ever, it’s about who you know, not what you know. Every good job I’ve gotten was because of connections—someone got me an interview, got my resume seen, or vouched for me. Even being qualified wasn’t enough without that. It’s brutal out here
I overheard a conversation in a coffee shop a few years ago where this lady said her employer posts fake job listings because the company gets free government assistance for "not being able to find qualified workers"
Been jobless for months, shit is fucking. Can’t even get a simple cashier job. I’m 26 and man my mental health is deteriorating.
You never hear politicians talk about ghost jobs. They must think all job postings are legit 😂
Was leaving the military, sent out about 50-60 applications. Couldn’t find a job even when I was over qualified for it. Companies do not want good people they want people they can replace in one day
I feel the "who you know" is more relevant now than ever.
I have never had such a difficult time finding a job in my entire life
When they post the jobs data and say that our job market is "healthy" remember that 30% of the jobs that are claimed to exist don't exist.
Cost of living keeps going up and getting a legit job is getting harder. What great times we live in :)
I remember my mother chewing me out about applying for jobs and being ghosted, she thought i was lying until she lost her job and had to apply for a new one
