The ps2 version never ceases to look gorgeous
It sucks we had to wait so long but it's kind cool that we get this as an example of how important artistry and stylization is to game design.
Thank you for using the PS2 Version of GTA SA, because the PC port in 2005 already lost some effects.
I hope they bring back the extreme lens flare effect in cars in Vice city and GTA III, that’s an effect so unique en the first two games
8:47 Finally you cant see Mount Chiliad from Las Venturas
On a CRT the orange sky blends even better...
Props to Video Games Deluxe who are now the main actors patching this version of the game, along with a few other studios.
This game actually looks pretty nice now
12:08 That suddenly got existential, the pause after you said that too 😂
The graphics without the classic lighting looks alright the only problem is the draw distance They should add the fog to the normal lighting as well it will look so much better and also increase the fog's density too or give us the option to choose the fog density
The fog & Lighting hiding LOD makes the OG san andrease massive for me as a kid since i barley came off of gta v on the 360. made it have more verticality compared to city’s in gta v.
It's beyond crazy it took Rockstar 3 years to fix the joke they launched with the definitive edition. This company makes millions per day. It would take a small team of programmers maybe a few weeks if not days to get right
The game actually looks enjoyable now. But this is because this update was done by Rockstar themselves. If you noticed, they got rid of the Grove Street Games splash screen in the intro, and the rumors for about a year now is that GSG was just consolidated into Rockstar proper and their employees were just moved to the nearest sub-studio, which imo is what shouldve been what happened in the first place. The game could've launched like this had Rockstar just done it themselves and not outsourced the project to the dolts who made the terrible mobile and 7th gen ports.
PS2 has this file "seabed" wich controls the render distance wich was very low in the ps2 version (longer in the og PC version). This would make the sun appear bigger and the objects like trees will render even at lower distances wich contributed to make the world to appear bigger than it was. The trilogy doesn't use that file for the render distance, since now that is handled by unreal engine, the only solution is to use fog wich is not the same. It makes all look foggy but still an upgrade.
Bought the trilogy 3 years ago but never got into them til now, thanks to this patch
Another YouTuber said that the controls were simplified for smartphones and then brought to consoles, making some tasks too easy, so they still need to restore that.
I actually waited for someone going in depth, glad it was you, thank you
11:25 that vibrant purple color contrasting with the desert was one of my favorite sights maybe in all the game history, nothing can compete with that GTA timecyc and the vibes they give to you, i also remember the orange sky to a more "red" tone when i was in the countryside too, which was so stunning even for a game released two decades ago.
We've seen some comprehensive videos on the new patch, but it's really great to see a "vibe cheak" video to see all of the returning weather effects. Fantastic work, as always. Los Santos has a really cozy feel late at night with the big moon. It's good to see it back. Overall, the original generally looks slightly better in terms of the environment & vibe, with classic lighting on. But it's very well implemented generally. With this patch, I think I ever-so-slightly prefer how Las Ventures looks now, ESPECIALLY at night, the original lighting & sky, with the new textures, 3D signs/billboards, and updated building LEDs, work so well together imo. And since we don't have many modern titles set in Las Vegas, it's awesome to see that refined look.
