funny you mention burning CDs. Our Office manager claims that this IS an essential job of the RT because the non RT's cannot discern if the images are correct.. Short staffed, overbooked. More exams in shorter time slots. More responsibilities that in the past we did not have to do (like checking orders for accuracy long before the authorization is done). Our burnout is getting worse all the time. I am currently using PTO one day a week to save myself, I just cannot go at that pace any longer!!! It is preplanned, so everyone knows about it, and since I cannot convince the management to get more help, I have to do what is right for me. Fortunately, all of my coworkers are great. But that may be a negative as well, because we all jump in and help each other, and when I am doing a CT, and I 'watch' the MRI so the other tech can run get the next patient, mistakes can be made. Most of the techs where I work are required to be licensed in Xray, CT and MRI, so we all bounce around. and Breaks? ha. non existent, unless I want to stay late. In outpatient, the last person of the day has to stay until it's all done, and THEN clean up. Its interesting that you mention the 'sloths' with 'additional training' does that include people that absolutely REFUSE to learn anything new, and does not want to work in a certain area, and is VERY vocal about it?

Hi:)!, I’m planning on getting into radiology technology but I have a lot of concerns...personally I have a social anxiety disorder and I’m shy for one thing, making the effort to grow out of it especially in school but that being said do you think it will be a problem working in this field as an introvert who doesn’t talk a lot? Especially in a hospital setting. Also, I’m really worried about the radiation exposure and it freaks me out to hear about having a radiation “dosage” limit, because it sounds like for over a long period of time–maybe even over a short period of time–you end up exposed to an amount of radiation that’s harmful. I can’t find any clear elaborations online as to how you are protected from this, and if it’s possible to protect yourself from exposure at all times. It’s very confusing and I want to know if there’s a need to worry about cancer and even visible skin aging/damage (embarrassed to mention that hahah but it’s definitely a worry of mine).
