@raydesalvo1375

This was so helpful! I'm so glad you just happen to modify the same bluetooth receiver I'm trying to modify!

@essob100

Perfekt! Now its working at least 10m away. Easy to do, if you have done some soldering before.

@FransvanHoogstraten

Thanks! It extended my range significantly!

@jndale

Thanks, I just did this mod and it worked perfectly!

@BGdubs92b17

Worked perfectly! Thanks.

@coondogtheman

I like this mod better than just removing the piece of metal inside.

@jimmywilliams8684

You can also just take the metal weight out of the bottom.  That will increase range to about 25 feet.

@rogerbusser

Hi Kurwa, If you locate the internal SMD antenna, you can see how it's soldered. I used another location on the board to connect the antenna shield to (gnd). As long as the of the antenna is soldered to the largest copper area (this is the ground). I don't know if the location I choose is the best since the Belkin housing is not the most ideal antenna housing in the first place. So a bit of experimenting can give even better results! Good luck, Roger

@rogerbusser

@urmommawasfun Actually I used a wi-fi antenna myself (on the pictures). The carrier frequency of both wi-fi and bluetooth are in the same range (2.4 GHz), therefore the antenna's are interchangeable. Good luck

@richdewar

What Jimmy Williams said. Just remove the metal weight & range increases tenfold, No soldering required.

@rogerbusser

@hellwalker81 ,

I don't see the added value of adding a battery to this since it still needs to be connected to a stereo amplifier, so a power socket is in range (for me).

Roger

@rogerbusser

I think so, when you search the internet you see all kind of WiFi extenders. Like Bluetooth it's all based on the same base frequency (2.4GHz) so it all works. I can see some downsides though, reception only works when you're in the 'receiving ray' of the antenna and placing a satellite dish in the living room is not something I would suggest at home.

@rogerbusser

@LookMaNoBrains This is a DIY instruction, I'm assuming you're familiar with a soldering iron. After opening the case you can locate the internal smd antenna, just remove it and replace it with an external antenna. I've got my external antenna from an old wifi router, as long as the transmitter carrier frequency is comparable, you're ok. So a bluetooth antenna and wifi antenna will both do the job for you.

@chuu_shi

You can take out that metal thing to increase the range up to at least 30ft...

@noc007

Really all you need to do is remove that metal weight on the bottom of the case and you'll get the advertised/standard range of 10m/33ft. Now if you're getting a range beyond the BT spec and actually need that range, this mod would make sense.

@KustomSigns

Roger, great video! One question I have is, how do I know which wire off the antenna goes in which position on the board?

@Lukasz420

Could you please show where exactly pigtail should be soldered? I bought this Belkin on friday and on Saturday it was opened:) Now I want to solder but I'm not sure where. The movie shows like three places to connect (not two). Thanks in advance!!!

@daddyven0m

can you upload a video where the Belkin bluetooth is working after the operation. thanx

@hellwalker81

Can u DIY its battery with a 18650 cell please !

@rogerbusser

Correct!
