Why Quick Commerce worked in India but failed in west? #quickcommerce #qcom #qcommerce #ecommerce

Why Quick Commerce Thrives in India but Fails in the West 😨

So, Quick commerce, instant grocery delivery in 10-20 minutes, has taken India by storm. Zepto, Blinkit, and Instamart are thriving, while in the US and Europe, similar startups have shut down. But why?

It’s not about technology or product-market fit. It’s about labor economics.

In countries like the US, delivery riders earn around $19 per hour, making rapid delivery too costly. But in India, they earn just ₹40-₹80 per delivery—often less than $1 per order.

This ultra-low-cost workforce makes quick commerce profitable in India, but it also raises tough questions. Are we willing to accept low wages and harsh working conditions just for the convenience of instant groceries?

If delivery executives were paid fair wages, would the quick commerce boom still survive? Or is the entire business model built on cheap labor that won’t last forever?
