Hello There!

Chris Erickson The Herniated Disc Expert is back again with another video on the warm-up routine. In this video, I have discussed how dynamic warm-up routines help runners.

A dynamic warm-up is a series of non-static movements performed in a sequence before any physical activity. It’s crucial to properly prepare your body for a workout, sport, or performance. It’s the athlete’s way of warming up!

You use a specific series of functional movements to actively prime your muscles and smooth out any weakness in your body before you begin exercising. Typically, a dynamic warm-up will start slowly, focusing on motions, then activating different muscles, before building up to a high-impact finish.

Performing warm-ups increases muscle temperature and blood flow, which contributes to improved exercise performance and reduced risk of injuries to muscles and tendons. Stretching increases the range of motion of the joints and is effective for the maintenance and enhancement of exercise performance and flexibility, as well as for injury prevention.

A dynamic workout will vary depending on the exerciser and the sport/exercise they’re about to partake in. Learning the whats and whys of dynamic warm-ups is knowledge, but learning how to bring dynamic warm-ups into your routine is power.

In this video, you will see the clinicians at EHS Physical Therapy and Chiropractic and Essential Motion Spine and Sport got together to come up with some very important pre workout/running exercises and stretches. These movements are dynamic in nature and the importance of a dynamic warm-up will help you reduce the chance of injury.

The most common injuries are muscle strains, ligament sprains, anterior knee pain, plantar fasciitis, and shin splints. Using this dynamic warm-up routine, which only takes 5-7 min, prior to your long runs, will help reduce your chance of injury.
