A Base Gentoo Installation

Today, I had a few minutes of free time so I decided to install Gentoo. So I decided to do a Stage 3 installation inside a virtual machine, and it didn't seem right to install Gentoo and not also record it.

ERRATA:
The compile times were very slow in this video. Having installed Gentoo a few times, I knew something wasn't quite right when the kernel installation took more than 2 hours. One of the viewers (aaoth) spotted the issue:

"DT, you've edited the wrong make.conf in the beginning! You weren't chrooted yet, but you've pointed vi to /etc/portage/make.conf and not /mnt/gentoo/etc/portage/make.conf at 19:10"
