Was JFK really going to pull us out of Vietnam?

President Kennedy in 1963 says that his plan to withdraw U.S. forces from South Vietnam by 1965 depended on many conditions -- and today, it is clear they were unlikely to be met. It all hinged on the South Vietnamese military becoming strong and professional, but in fact, the Army of the Republic of Vietnam was riddled with corruption and arrogance.
