Text of my short speech against the Jeffersonians, as a Federalist:
The Federalist party envisions the ratification of a Constitution that includes a strong central government and banking system, along with a more unified nation that I believe will establish us as a world superpower, surpassing that of Britain, our former colonizers. Contrarily, the anti-federalists, led by Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and others, push for more power and authority to be transferred to the states. Yet, how can states handle more power when they refuse to contribute to our economy by paying taxes, and refuse to share the monetary burden placed on us all, by the war? How can Jeffersonian republicans claim to champion individual rights, while simultaneously ignoring and suppressing the rights of Indians, women and blacks?
It is thanks to the organization of our party leaders such as Alexander Hamilton and his publishment of the Federalist papers, along with the support of General George Washington, that we have been successful in rallying critical states like Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut and others to ratify this Constitution that I believe has much potential. Nevertheless, the achievement of our goals for a newer union also require your commitment. We have gathered the best of our lawyers, merchants, speculators and others who argue for a national government that could defend private property against the control of state legislatures.
The Federalists do not threaten your liberty, or propose a kingship, as our republican foes falsely claim we do, for we are calling for a national Constitution in which more power is given to you, the people, rather than state governments. In addition, we have delivered on our promise of including a Bill of Rights into the Constitution. Since ratification, voters of our party have also been pleased with the many accomplishments its achieved, both domestically and abroad. We have experienced a significant increase in economic activity since the depression of the 1780s. One clear example of this is the doubling in wages and profits among our farmers, artisans and merchants, which in turn has greatly helped in areas of trade, agriculture and architecture. In addition, states have seen their taxes being cut in half, due to the federal government paying off their debt. Internationally, our party negotiated positive treaties with Spain, the Western Indians, and the British Empire.
And so, the assurance of the future survival of our party, and more importantly, our union, depend on your pledged support of our cause, to enable our ideas to live on for generations long after we are but a memory. This Constitution that the Federalists helped to create will hopefully go on to serve as the leading guide for our peoples and our governments.
