"The Hearst Trophy," awarded at the 18th Annual National Irrigation Congress in 1910, for best general county display of products grown under irrigation.
The conference was held in Pueblo, CO and focused on the importance of irrigation for agricultural development and the role of the government in supporting those projects and also highlighted the dispute over whether water policy should be in the hands of the federal government or managed more by states and private entities.
By a substantial majority, the Congress endorsed federal control of interstate water. The trophy will be on display for this night only at City Hall and will eventually be on display at the Rocky Ford Museum.
