This is a test of the CNC mechanism used in RepRap 3D printers, but in this case it is applied to control the position of a distance sensor (VL53L0X), using BYJ48 stepper motors.
This steppers are very slow (4096 steps per turn), and achieved a maximum frequency of 1300 Hz half-stepping when feeding with 10Vcc (nominal is 5Vcc), they overheat, but it works fine.
This scanner is a prototype to 3D analyze cover crops.
