India, a multi-cultural nation, is a land of many tongues where people speak in 30 languages, with over 1500 dialects. However, the web interface is heavily biased towards English. This works only when we are bounded to Tier 1 & 2 Cities.
This is the primary reason why only 13% of India buys digitally . The rest – the real ‘market’, primarily engage in IM, Social Media and Entertainment. 70% of Indian Language users find it difficult to use English keyboards. 66% state that limited language support is a barrier to availing services online. 68% find content in their native language to be more reliable than English and a staggering 79% of Indian Language Users complain that the present Smartphone experience in not intuitive. A lot of people even find saving contacts, toggling Data Roaming, etc. challenging.
Hence, we are building a canonical and intuitive interface to the web in their own language, through our Voice Assistant, Saarthi.
