Building Multilayer Material Stacks with QuantumATK

Watch this demo video to learn about the new Interfaces Builder in QuantumATK for building multilayer material stacks, and how it is used construct a complex magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) with multiple layers of W, Fe, MgO, Pt, Co, and Ru of different thicknesses for STT-MRAM applications:

• Generate interfaces of multiple layers of any material by simultaneously matching lattices in all layers.
• Choose cut-planes, layer thicknesses, and lateral shifts for all layers.
• Inspect surface Miller indices and choose best configuration by comparing largest mean absolute strain and number of atoms among candidates.

This demo video also explains the benefits of dedicated High-K Metal Gate and Magnetoresistive RAM Builders in QuantumATK:

• A combination of target-specific algorithms and specially developed Machine-Learned Force Fields (MTPs), are used to rapidly generate DFT-quality configurations
• Generated structures can directly be used to calculate electronic and magnetic properties of advanced multi-layer configuration, without a need for very time-consuming DFT optimization.
