【太りすぎ】住民の5人に4人が「肥満」の島国がヤバすぎた…

Which country comes to mind when you hear about the country with the most obese people in the world?

Of the top 10 countries with the highest obesity rates in the world, the top 9 are island nations in the Pacific Ocean.

I traveled 42 hours from Japan to visit Tuvalu, a small island nation in the South Pacific, and interviewed people about life there.

Tuvalu is a very small country with a total population of about 12,000 people, but it is said that 80% of the population, or 4 out of 5 people, are "overweight."

As for women, 73%, or about 3 out of 4 people, have a BMI of 30 or higher, which is an obese state that increases the risk of diabetes and myocardial infarction.

Let's take a look at the obesity problem facing Pacific island nations, including Tuvalu.

Born in 1994. Freelance international cooperation consultant. Graduated from Waseda University.
After meeting a girl begging in the Philippines, he began working in international cooperation from his student days. He has supported former child soldiers in Uganda and refugees in South Sudan. He founded the NPO Confront World while in college and started working in international cooperation as a new graduate. She has also engaged in awareness-raising activities through publications, lectures, and blogs, and received the Ono Azusa Memorial Award in March 2018.
After graduating from university, she developed adjustment disorder and left the organization's activities. After six months of battling the illness, she resumed her activities as a freelancer. She collaborated with a local NGO in Uganda to provide sanitary products to girls in the northeast. She is also involved in lectures, blogs, YouTube, and online salon management, and is pursuing a new way of working that combines "freelance and international cooperation." Her books include "Becoming an adult who does not ignore the world" and "Habits that connect you to the SDGs: seeing the world correctly."
