The Smallest Car at the Biggest Show! Dip Monkey Garage’s Dan & Claire share the story on their SEMA build “Project Bruno” a 1965 Fiat 500 with a Ducati 996 engine. Builders out of the UK, they tell us how the idea of Bruno started with the goal of building “an Italian Bike in the back of an Italian Car.” The color design on Bruno’s fuel tank was a nod to Carl “Foggy” Fogarty, the UK’s world famous Ducati Motorcycle Racer. They also went with an old school paint job on the exterior of Bruno. Dan shared that it had to be metal flake and it also had to be a candy color, and since Claire’s favorite color was Teal, they went with that! The hexagon pattern you see alongside Bruno ties in to the livery of Carl Fogarty on the fuel tank.
Dan & Claire also share the reality of running a business while also dedicating time to a SEMA Build. Since Bruno came from the UK, they had to finish earlier than other SEMA Builders as it had to be shipped which took over two months which meant Bruno had to be completed by August. Claire shared that there were a few scary times financially for them as they put other customers projects on hold in order for them to complete Project Bruno and be able to get it to Las Vegas in time.
Watch as the Dan & Claire share the inspiration, challenges, and unique process behind transforming this mini legend into a powerhouse of speed and style. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind build that stole the spotlight at SEMA!
