I have had a pain in the REAR time because for some reason my PC will NOT allow Oculus to install on my PC. Below is the steps I took to do so

1) Download "Virtual Desktop" on the Oculus, it is about $25.00 give or take

After you download it, click the link below to download on your PC

2) Install Steam and Steam VR on your PC

3) Go through all the settings on Virtual Desktop on your PC and Oculus It will ask you on the PC to set up the User name, this can be found on your oculus when you open up Virtual Desktop

4) Download a free game on STEAM

5) go onto your oculus and open Virtual Desktop, Go to the Steam VR software icon and double click it with your trigger button on the oculus

There you have it... You didn't need Oculus Software on your PC
