"Jesus, meine Zuversicht" (di BSG 1989) prel. di corale (à Hauptwerk Zwolle)

This setting arose in 1989 not long after I watched the eminent William Porter improvise the canonette at the second in the opening measure out of thin air -- "How did you know that!?!", "Oh, you just know after a while." (That's why he's eminent.) The setting is of the Pachelbelesque "motet" variety, i.e., canonettes introducing each line, with coloratura cantus firmus, but is related in feel and spirit to my "Aus tiefer Noth (Straßburg)" (   • Aus tiefer Noth (Straßburger Melodey) (von...  ) of the preceding year. There is a lot of BWV 740 (Krebs?) feeling here as well.

The rendition is on the Sonus Paradisi digital imaging, via Hauptwerk, of the magnificent Schnitger organ in the Michaëliskerk of Zwolle, Holland (sequenced). Playable PDF at bernardgreenberg.com/Scores/5138744 .
