2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek AC Compressor Problem and Replacement

Subaru has an issue with the Air conditioning compressor clutch on 2014 - 2017 Subaru xv crosstrek, impreza, WRX, and forester. The technical service bulletin 10-84-16 mentions clutch failure and an updated part but doesn't give testing information.

In this video I will show you how to change the AC compressor on a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek. The compressor would stop working sometimes after extended driving. The Freon level was good and the operating pressures seemed normal. Since there was a TSB on the issue the customer wanted the compressor replaced. The Subaru dealership had two compressor on the shelf and told us that they replace a lot of them. The parts manager said they replace the compressor only as the failure doesn't contaminate the lines, condenser, evaporator or expansion valve.
