How To Prep For An Interview (From an ex-Principal Engineer)

As an ex-Principal Engineer at Amazon, I’ve interviewed over 850 candidates and taught over 1000 people on how to conduct an interview— so, I know what works and what doesn’t.

Here are the 3 things you NEED to do, before your interview

📌 Structure right: Find the right resources, practice technical questions and track your successes. Do it bit by bit, everyday.

📌 Start right: Don’t wait for the “perfect” time to start, like after a course or a book on coding. There’s no better time than now.

📌 Practice behavioral question: Don’t skimp on the softer, more behavioral questions like the simple, “Tell me about yourself?” question. Interviewers are going to use your answers here as a big factor, when you successfully do the technical questions.
