How display technology impacts all our lives | Cliff Jones | TEDxMalvern

Electronic displays have become a daily part of our lives; on smart phones, tablets, laptops, televisions and billboards. To the extent that people are concerned that too much screen-time is affecting society. This talk examines the rise of liquid crystal displays, invented and developed in Malvern, and hints at the future as new technology continues to be developed. Cliff is a physicist with interests in soft matter, liquid crystals, displays, optoelectronics and photonics. He is acknowledged as an inspirational technical leader, inventor and entrepreneur. He was the founding Chief Technology Officer of ZBD Solutions Ltd (now DisplayData), Malvern's high technology liquid crystal displays company. Cliff is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a Chartered Physicist and Fellow of the Institute of Physics, a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, and a Senior Member of the Society for Information Display.
