This is an unboxing of the Gear VR headset. It uses my Samsung S7 Edge as a screen and projects 2 images left and right which create a Virtual environment. My first reaction when I used the Gear VR was "Whoah!!! This is nice." It truly emmerses you in virtual environment.
The following options are there:
-Playing virtual games (by downloading them from the oculus store)
-Watching movies on your phone in different settings (small theater, big theater, ant theater, home theater, moon theater)
-Watching 360 degree videos from different sources like Youtube, Vimeo, etc
-Watching 360 degree photo's
At first you are amazed by the feeling you get from seeing 360 degree videos and pictures. When you look closely you can see the pixels which temper the excitement a bit. Also after 20 to 30 minutes I need a break from watching. It's quite intense and sometimes disorientating. Also if you wear glasses you can't wear them using the Gear VR which is a shame. You can adjust the lenses but that might not be enough for some users. At the moment I feel it's some sort of gimmick. It's nice to have but not a must. Right now the technology is still in it's infancy. But if they increase the resolution of the screen and create some nice games and experiences this might be one of the better VR experiences out there.
