The Mathematical Problem With Good Will Hunting

Good Will Hunting is one of my favorite movies of all time, and yet, I have a few gripes with the mathematics in it. The movie has been covered enough on Youtube, so I didn't go super in depth on the movie itself. I tried to bring something new to the table.

Also, I noticed that while the second problem in the movie has plenty of coverage, the first one has been given much less love. Hopefully my explanation was sufficient!
