UC Schools Abolish SAT & ACT: Beginning of the End? The Beginning of the END for Standardized Tests. UC (University of California) schools such as UC Berkeley, UCLA, and other UC colleges have abolished the SAT and ACT from their college admissions. This is a huge step toward the beginning of the end for standardized testing. The college admissions process is changing with the SAT and ACT being phased out. Test optional policies are more and more common, but just removing standardized tests altogether is happening now at UC schools. The COVID pandemic has made this process go even faster.
