This video was actually my 3rd attempt at removing the lead pipe. I had just given up and though it was just 1 section of pipe (not joined). I made this video to get suggestion. But to my surprise that the thing actually came out.
One month ago I bought this Carl Fischer Reliable tuba on ebay. From googling allexperts.com, I think this tuba dates to 1890-1900 and is either from the Czech Republic or Austria. All slides and valves move, but it has a severely lacerated lead pipe. It's very light and fun to play (I tried playing it with the mouthpiece in the tuning slide lol).
My plan is to solder a brass sheet metal patch around the lead pipe and then put it back (possibly another video).
