Quintana Roux

Across the Freeport ship channel from Surfside Beach Texas lies the most humble of surf spots. Quintana offers a clean alternative to Surfside during Northeast winds. Always worth a check when a good east swell is running and Surfside is blown out. It gets big and gnarly far outside but when smaller, the wave calls for a relaxed approach. You won't break any speed records here. A rural setting with an industrial backdrop, this surf spot is pure upper coast of Texas. We caught this nice swell at Quintana on a lovely fall day in 1995, nearly 30 years ago.
