“Head Above Water” | Abigail Neiderer

“God, keep my head above water.”

Dock Mennonite Academy’s Arts Day 2023 theme was “oceans”. “Head Above Water” by Avril Lavigne uses the ocean to represent the battles we face. The song is a prayer to God, showing how we can seek refuge in Him, even when we feel like we are drowning. “Head Above Water” is performed and choreographed by Abigail Neiderer.
I have truly felt the message of this song playing in my own life this year, and feel so grateful that I got to share it with everyone at Dock Mennonite Academy this Arts Day. Whenever we feel like we are drowning in the battles we face, we can seek God as a refuge, and he will keep our heads above water.
I feel so extremely lucky to have gotten the opportunity to participate in Dock Mennonite Academy’s Arts Day 2023: Oceans! A huge thank you to the teachers and administrators at DOCK for making one of my favorite days possible once again, and another massive thank you to my friends and family for supporting me as I danced. It is always such a blessing to take the stage at Dock, and this year was truly no exception. Congrats to everyone involved on yet another wonderful day celebrating the Arts!!
