When AI Decides Who Lives and Who Dies

How will A.I. systems value human life? From firefighting robots and self-driving cars to superintelligent A.I., many forms of artificial intelligence will need to be programmed with criteria for whose life to prioritize in an emergency. In the long term, these rules for valuing human life may also determine whether we can maintain control over the machines, or whether A.I. will cause our extinction.
