I was interested in trading, having done some trades in my personal accounts.

For SIG specifically, as a company founded by professional poker players, I found their game theory and decision-making approach to trading very attractive.

Traders are assessed more on their decision process rather than just the outcome of their decisions.

When starting at SIG, you'll go through a brief orientation program, learning the basics of options theory.
0:39
From there, you'll be placed on one of our desks in the Sydney office, where you'll do more trading-specific training through mock trading, game theory classes, shadowing traders, and project work.

After that, you'll be flown to our headquarters in Philadelphia, where you'll undergo a more structured and rigorous training for six to twelve months.

Then, you'll take a ten-week trading class, after which you'll become a fully-fledged trader.

A typical day for me starts an hour to an hour and a half before the market opens.
1:10
I start with a meeting with our research team, where we discuss overnight news and events that could impact our markets.
1:15
Then, we have a huddle with the desk traders, discussing stock-specific events or trading situations we expect to arise and our strategies around them.
1:26
Once the market opens, it’s very trading-focused.
1:29
It's a team process, with constant discussion on the desk about market situations and how to handle them.
1:36
We trade through until the market closes.
1:39
After the close, we have a second team huddle where we debrief on the day's trading, reviewing what went well and where we could improve.
1:47
Then, we write our personal recaps, and trading for the day is done.
1:55
Sometimes, we like to relax upstairs at the poker tables, playing friendly games and bonding as a team.
