Project Euler #3 in Python - fun with math and some clever programming

Solve problem 3 of project Euler, with extra explanation. This one is a little more tricky, because the simple, straightforward solution will not finish in a reasonable amount of time. On my Mac, it would take 13 hours... we will have to find something more clever in our Python arsenal.
